Lost In Bittorrent

// May 26th, 2006 // 9 Comments » // Moviesandtv, Obsessions

Only 2 hours and 17 minutes until the final episode of Lost Season 2 is downloaded to my computer! I am very excited. Three months ago I’d never watched a single episode. Then I watched Season 1 on DVD and after that was compelled to download all of Season 2 week by week. What can I say, I’m a sucker for “mythology” shows.

Hail Xenu!!

// March 19th, 2006 // 3 Comments » // Moviesandtv

The continuing battle between South Park and Scientology has escalated a bit, allegations of Tom Cruise getting an episode pulled from repeats, and Isaac Hayes quitting over the show’s anti-Scientology episode. I was very amused however by a recent statement released by the show’s creators, Trey & Matt:

So, Scientology, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun! Temporarily anozinizing our episode will NOT stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies. Curses and drat! You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail! Hail Xenu!!!

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, servants of the dark lord Xenu.

I love those guys.

Oscar Nominations

// January 31st, 2006 // 29 Comments » // Moviesandtv, Obsessions

The nominations for the Academy Awards should be announced later today, an event that thrills me no end as I am an Oscar whore! We traditionally have a bit of an Oscar bash and this year will be no different, though we will have to persuade new punters of the crazy fun of laying down hard cash and getting totally sloshed on cheap champagne. Serene

We went to the movies last night – oh it was a very exciting occasion – just two girls out on the town, footloose and fancyfree. We went to see Serenity (finally) and it was fantastic, we really enjoyed it. It wrapped up a lot of loose ends from the tv series and was very funny, tragic and action-packed all at once. Not sure how it would be if you weren’t familiar with the TV show though. But it gets the Jemsweb Highly Recommended Seal of Approval (JHRSA™).

Best line: “I ain’t had nothin’ twixt my nethers for a year that didn’t run on batteries.”

Star-Crossed

Xena & GabrielleDid you know that the recently discovered 10th planet in the solar system has been named “Xena”? A temporary name until a final one has been decided on. Even better, scientists have just discovered that Xena has a moon, which they have named “Gabrielle”.

How romantic! I vote that they keep those names permanently!

You scored as Hoban 'Wash' Washburne. The Pilot. You are a leaf on the wind, see how you soar. You have a good job, and a stunning wife who loves you (and can kill people). Life is good, which is why you can’t help smiling. Now if you can just get people to actually listen to your opinion things would be perfect.

Slightly disappointed to be Wash, but I have to admit that it fits. Especially the wife part.

You scored as Willow Rosenberg. You are a very smart individual. Though, like everyone else, you’ve made mistakes. You’ve changed over the last few years, so have a lot of things in your life, but you’ve got great friends who love you and are there for you through anything.

Serenity Shattered

// September 2nd, 2005 // 10 Comments » // Moviesandtv, Obsessions

Argh! Just rang Reading Cinemas and the Serenity preview screening sold out in 45 minutes yesterday. I had no idea there were so many Firefly obsessives in Wellington… alas I will now have to wait until its proper release date on 10th November.

Boo hoo.

Unreality

I was very disappointed with the eviction of Keshia from NZ Idol last night. I don’t vote ONE WEEK and look what happens. I can’t even blame it on the Australian public like I usually do.

Actually I have a theory, votes were way down cos everyone got their Telecom bills this week, and were shocked by all those 99c calls – that’s what happened to me anyway.

Jesse better not win or I’m giving up on reality tv for good!

Speaking of reality tv, I’m very glad there’s only two weeks of Big Brother to go. Now I know who wins, it all seems like a pointless waste of 5 hours a week. But Jan has not yet suffered the disappointment of the outcome as she is spoiler free. If only she knew, she too would shun the remaining time! Alas cruel fate!

Serenity Preview

// August 30th, 2005 // 14 Comments » // Moviesandtv, Obsessions

Just read on Short and Sweet that there will be a special preview screening of Serenity at Reading Cinemas on Sept 19th at 8:30pm. This is the movie based on the short-lived yet brilliant TV series Firefly. I’m definitely going if I can pre-book tickets – anyone else coming?
