Two Blogs Are Better Than One?

I’m proud to announce the birth of a new blog I’ve started called Lesbian Of The Day. The basic aim is to feature one famous lesbian a day in order to increase positive visibility of successful, interesting and happy lesbians out there. I know when I was a young dykeling, positive images of lesbians were few and far between and I would have loved a site like this (well, any site really since the internets weren’t around then). Don’t expect any fantastic writing or analysis, I’m just gonna put up a big picture and say a few words.

Movies To Get Excited About

With my summer holidays from uni only weeks away, I’m looking forward to seeing some great movies over the break and here are a few trailers of upcoming ones that look intriguing!

The Unborn looks like a truly freaky horror movie of old, has that Exorcist or Omen vibe, but with some lovely modern effects thrown in. Also it has Stringer Bell, aka Idris Elba, in it, though I only recognised his voice and not his face.

afterellen are organising their own Top 100 Beautiful Women list after all the publicity that the Maxim one got last week. It will be interesting to see if the lesbian list differs greatly from the Maxim “men’s” list. (I can pretty much guarantee that Lindsay Lohan will not be number one!) After submitting my votes I thought it was a good time to give you my list of the top 10 most gorgeous women according to me! (Also I had a very hot dream about Katee Sackhoff last night).

Life’s Pretty Straight Without…

…a new gay girl tv show addiction! And yes folks, I’ve found a good one. It’s a new US cable teen show called South of Nowhere, and the main character is a teenage girl questioning her sexuality and having an intense relationship with her best friend. It’s great! I have downloaded all the episodes from here and am now completely hooked.

Okay, after some DRAMAS with moving the site, it’s now all transferred over to the new server at Digital Pacific. Please let me know if you come across any weirdness. Hopefully all will be smooth.

We’ve got some people coming over for lunch today who are the only other lesbians in the world* with a child with Down Syndrome – and they live 40mins drive away! What are the chances? Their little girl is 9 months younger than Archie. Should be fun.

*as far as we have been able to ascertain without putting any great effort into looking

Unlikely Lesbians

Good news, Maia and Jay are back together on Shortland Street. Seems that now Jay has discovered her one night stand with Norman did NOT result in a child (score one for realism), she regrets it all immensely.

Jay agrees not to rush off and do stupid things “if you agree to tell me what’s going on in that beautiful head of yours”.

Triple yay:

a) they are back together

b) despite gloomy predictions neither is now straight or celibate

c) no boring lesbian baby storyline – yawn – can’t lesbians do ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT REPRODUCE!!

Shortland St Update

Last night Maia dumped Jay’s sorry ass, rightfully, after catching her in bed with Norman… and Li Mei asked the question “what’s wrong with a jar and a turkey baster?”

But of course no one answered her.

Then she went crazy and called Jay “a lesbian ho bag”!

Oh well, it was all quite entertaining anyway.

Now we’ll wait eagerly to see if Jay is pregnant from her virginity-losing, one night stand with no thought as to her fertility cycle. My bet… of course she is!!
