A nice thing to see on World Down Syndrome Day (March 21).

If you haven’t seen the web series “The Specials” yet, you should check it out! It’s a reality show about five housemates with developmental disabilities living together in a share house in Brighton (four of the five have Down Syndrome).

It’s hilarious! I like Sam the best, he is really out there. Here’s one of my fave episodes where he falls for the Lady Boys of Bangkok:

I think it’s great to have something like this that shows people with disabilities just going about their regular lives – socially, romantically but NOT medically. The creators are trying to get money together for Season 2, so support them any way you can!

Obama wins! And mentions the gays and the disabled in his victory speech! I am hoping he will turn out to be a closet socialist just like John McCain said, and start REALLY redistributing some wealth.

Still watching the proposed same-sex marriage ban in California, which is looking like it will pass thanks in part to $20 million donated by the Mormon Church to support it. Maybe still some hope though?

You know what really annoys me? Plastic packaging. You know the sort, all sealed in its little plastic bubble, looks great in the shop because you can see all the contents, but then you need an industrial pair of scissors to get the frickin thing open. Even if you have a pair of scissors, it’s very easy to do yourself harm with these weirdly shaped packages.

I have had occasions when I actually NEEDED the thing I bought right then and there, but unfortunately, cannot get the damn packaging open using the tools evolution gave me (ie teeth and hands). Surely there’s a better way? We don’t all carry scissors in our bag! In fact I’m pretty sure that’s illegal!

But it does look so pretty on the shelf… what are your thoughts dear readers?
