Jan had got to the end of her fulltime mummy tether by last Friday afternoon, so it was time for a weekend off from children. I took the boys up to my mother’s house in Greytown (about an hour’s drive from Wellington) for the weekend. They are both sick with colds and thus rather ratbaggery, [...]

Harry really enjoyed his birthday party yesterday afternoon. He just loves all the accoutrements of birthdays like hats, party blowers and fairy bread, and kept breaking out into “Happy! Happy!” every few moments. He was such a happy well-behaved boy all day! What a sweetie! And after the initial shock (having not realised little brothers [...]

It’s Harry’s birthday today and he is feeling great! Archie had a big tantrum in the morning when we broke the news to him, but came around and helped open presents. We ended up getting him a big wooden train set which he loves and has been playing with all morning. There’s a family party [...]

Due to popular demand, I sat Harry down this morning and recorded some more Harry sounds. He wasn’t in the most co-operative of moods, but I did manage to get a few and here they are!
Harry quacks
Harry laughs
Harry says “Apple”
Harry says “Dog”
Harry roaring
Harry says “Baby”
Harry says “Archie”
or download a zip of these words for posterity.

We drove out to Mum’s on Saturday and retrieved our eldest child. He seemed rather chuffed to see us all, though Harry wasn’t as excited to see Archie as all his babblings would suggest. Since then they’ve been playing together really well though, so I think they did miss each other. And when Archie was [...]

Harry came out to wave goodbye to Archie yesterday as he headed off in Noo Noo’s car with his bike. Ever since then he has been constantly saying… “Archie, car” or “Archie, car, bike!” or even “Archie Noo Noo car bike!”.
And a couple of times we’ve caught him calling out “Archie! Archie!” like he thinks [...]

I’ve got the word and today is Insemination Day. If I get pregnant today, the baby will be due on 28 June, 2006 - a sensitive Cancer. Thinking positive here.
Mum is babysitting so that Jan can be present at the (possible) conception. Hopefully some of Jan’s super-fertile aura will rub off on me (she was [...]

Harry spent all this morning playing with the left over birthday hats from Archie’s party. He would put them on and then run around saying “Happy! Happy!”. Very cute.
Hear Harry talking for yourself:
Harry says “Happy”
Harry says “House”
Harry says “Circle”
Harry says “Help”
or download a zip of these words for posterity.

Harry’s talking is coming ahead in leaps and bounds. He imitates things we say all the time now. And of course he has his core vocab of favourite words which is constantly expanding. Here are some of Harry’s favourite words at the moment:
Archie
Bye bye
Shoe (except he says “Shoe-raku!)
Cracker
Car
No no no (usually said while cackling hysterically [...]

We had a great weekend. Friday night Max very kindly gave me a ticket to Fly My Pretties at the Paramount. I was gutted that the shows had sold out so was very happy to join Max, Jake, Rupert and Helen at the gig. And it was a fantastic show. Sam was the highlight of [...]
