The Printed Word

Received in the post from Amazon today, two books for work and two books for nerdy obsessiveness:

Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity By: David Allen

The Now Habit: A Strategic Program for Overcoming Procrastination and Enjoying Guilt-Free Play
By: Neil Fiore

The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology By: Ray Kurzweil

Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever By: Ray Kurzweil, Terry Grossman

I’ve discovered that books in New Zealand are so expensive that it is CHEAPER to buy from Amazon despite huge international postage costs.

I have tried the GTD thing a few times but I just can’t get my head quite around the strictness of the system. It’s almost religious in its fervour.

For saying that I do try to regularly do a mind dump and get all of the stuff from the dim dark recesses into some sort of order.

I haven’t read the Ray Kurzweil books yet but they are on my list of intendeds. Currently looking at Thomas Friedman’s The World is Flat which is absolutely amazing (and just $29.95 at Whitcoulls :) )
