Hard Livin’ Momma
Off to the Phoenix Foundation album release gig at Indigo on Friday night. Had a great night. TPF did an amazing set, the best I’ve seen for shizzle (not that I have seen them that many times). Huge sold out crowd. Drank beer. The highlights for me were my fave unreleased track 40 Years, amzing rendition of Nest Egg, rockin’ version of Going Fishing and huge finale Slightest Shift in the Weather. Drank beer. Hung around backstage in “the green room”. Drank beer. Ran into heaps of people we knew and got introduced to many we hadn’t. Drank beer. Received multiple offers of babysitting. Discovered that trendy Wellington venues play 80’s dance hits long into the night. Drank water. Got home at 4am.
Unfortunately the combination of a massive old person’s hangover and two rather grumpy ratbags conspired to make us a write off for the rest of the weekend. But it was all worth it!
We did go out with Dad and my (recently returned from Sydney) brother Max - and Sophie! - and had a fun yet-still-hungover dinner on Saturday night. Dad took us into this new bar on Courtenay Place that is completely mirrored - all the walls and the ceiling - and has a giant half-mirror ball embedded in the ceiling. It was mindblowing, but be warned, they wouldn’t let Max in cos he had sneakers on, puh-lease.
Phoenix Foundation pics soon…

Oh man, I wish everyone would stop writing about how fabulous the Phoenix Foundation gig was. Have a little respect for people who were slowly dying of gangrene and couldn’t leave the house to go to the gig! It’s just not fair.
