Archie’s Progress

We went to Archie’s first I.P. meeting yesterday afternoon. At an I.P. or Individual Plan meeting, all the people involved with Archie come together to set goals for his learning. So us, Archie’s speech therapist, special educator and the three kindy teachers sat down and had a good old yarn about Arch for two hours! It was fascinating hearing some of the things Archie was up to at kindy.

Jane the head teacher said that before he came, the book nook was usually ignored by all the kids, but Archie reads a lot which has got a lot of the other kids to come and read too. He is getting a lot of peer support, everyone looks out for him and joins in with him playing and so on. He is really into reading, Lego, puzzles and painting.

Best of all Archie has made a really good friend, a little boy named Reuben. Reuben is OBSESSED with Archie, and talks about him non-stop according to his mother. He follows Arch round all day at kindy. Next week it’s Reuben’s birthday and he has invited Archie to go to McDonalds and Lollipops with him (the only invitee!)

Very cute, sadly Reuben is only here for a term and then he is returning to France! :(

Aw, that is so sweet to hear about Reuben… but yeah, also so sad to think about when he goes away :( Good to hear Arch is doing his bit for literacy though! (ha ha, well done champ)

Thanks for this lovely update. Great to hear of his progress and how so many are looking out for our little angel.

It’s so cute that Archie has a little mate. And I wonder where he got those reading habits from ; )

Yay, I too know the joy of finding out your child has a friend, how fantastic! Fred has just started telling me about his new friends Michael and Briar, at Kindy.
As for the avid book reading well you know you have yourselves to thank for that. Your fabulous theory Em of reading to Archie every day since he was born has really paid off and of course lets not forget all the stories he got in-utero. You should be very proud! I just unearthed a photo of litlle new born Arch, looking very dapper in a lovely tan, with his proud Mums looking on, so will send it to you.
