Crowned

Yesterday I went to the dentist for the first of two sessions for my new gold crown.

My dentist is a rather amusing chap. He is very thorough about explaining what is going on and even offered to take digital photos along the way in case I wanted to see it all! But somehow I didn’t feel like witnessing my poor molar getting ground down into a square peg shape. Still I learned a lot about moulds and blue putty stuff and why they squirt water into your mouth as they drill (the drills spin so fast that if they weren’t cooled by water your tooth would glow from the heat!!) And the whole procedure was pain free and quite simple.

Also my dentist was fascinated with my blog, and when he found out about Flickr he got really excited. Wants to get his whole family onto it. Wellington Flickrists can prepare for a new member. Perhaps he will even post some of those photos of people’s teeth!

Now I have a temporary crown while I wait for my nice new gold one to be made. I’m not allowed to eat Minties or Mackintosh’s toffees though.

I booked today for the Topp Twins and the Wiggles - what a hip thing I am, really have my finger on the pulse of the NZ live music scene. However I can reveal in exciting famous brother news, that Sam is playing with David Kilgour tonight in support of Nick Cave!

Who is your dentist? Mine’s Bevan de Berry (the son of the legendary L. de Berry BDS). He’s a keen photographer.

Oooh! Mine is called Oliver - I don’t even know his surname, that’s how modern he is - Oliver’s Dental Group is on the Terrace

    Wait… I see it’s Oliver… never heard of him :)
