Fingersmith
Discovered today that the BBC’s adaptation of Sarah Waters’ novel Fingersmith is screening in Britain as we speak! If you have not heard of Ms Waters, she also penned the amazing Tipping The Velvet which was made into a fantastic BBC miniseries also. Fingersmith is my favourite of her novels so I am very excited by this development. I will have to get the DVD as soon as it’s available!
The novels are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as well, the twists and turns in Fingersmith will make your head spin!

I gave up on tipping the velvet… it wasn’t the nudity & sex so much, as Diana Riggs’ gorgeous daughter. She was sooooo wooden. It didn’t seems right, Diana’s face, and no talent.
I found it too disconcerting.

I LOVE Fingersmith, but I don’t see how they could’ve adapted it to TV. The plot’s a bit complex…

Fingersmith has just screened in oz on the ABC ( often called the ABBC for obvious reasons) I haven’t read the book so I came to it without preconceptions. I missed some of it because I don’t really dig on frock dramas, but I should have known better. Typical classy BBC bit of work, very authentic settings great cast, screen play etc. It worked for me, the plot was a bit complex, but it wasn’t too hard to follow if you have an attention span better than a gold fish. Didn’t know it was a lesbian frock drama, but then I didn’t know tipping the velvet was either. I’d probably rate tipping the velvet as the better of the two, buy both are good in thier own ways
