Wharerua

We have safely arrived at Noonoo’s after a nightmare day on Saturday.

The movers were due at 8:30am and the plan was to get the truck loaded, then sweep and mop the house, and then drive 9 hours to Greytown. A slight problem ensued when one of NZ Van Lines’ trucks broke down and they couldn’t get to our place until 2:30pm! Bugger. We said some sad farewells to Deborah and Grandma. Then cleaning took us longer than expected, as Archie had a bit of a breakdown when all our possessions departed - just got freaked out by it all I guess. We finally set off in Moon Unit at 5:45pm. Not what we had intended!

Just out of Hamilton I noticed that Moony was pulling to the left and sure enough, he had a flat tyre! We filled it up with air and decided to see how it went. Our spare is one of those temporary ones, not really fit for such a long trip. We had to keep re-filling the air every hour or so. Jan ran over a possum at high speed near Waiouru. Archie & Haz went off to sleep but then woke up again from about 11pm to 1am. We had to consume much Red Bull and chewing gum, but finally arrived at about 3:30am.

Anyway, we have recovered now and enjoying our brief stay in Wharerua (as NN calls her house). The boys are loving running around on the verandah and the grassy paddocks! Sister Rosie headed off to Melbourne this morning for an interview for a design degree she wants to do next year. Brother Sam came out from Welly and stayed the night, more Singstar fun ensued!

We are off to Sydney the day after tomorrow. Then more moving and packing madness - let alone Christmas present buying - argh!

Ouch! I feel your (moving) pain. But I am glad it had a happy ending with plenty of fun verandah and paddock running. Looking very much forward to seeing you all in this verandah & paddock-less locale for Xmas joy. :D
