Food

Those of you who know me well know that I am a rather, how shall we say, conservative eater. However on this trip I decided to put all that aside and deliberately ate as many weird things as I could. Here is a list of some of the highlights (for me), and the verdict…

Prawns : yum
Very glutinous soup - mysterious : yuck
Deep fried duck skin : yuck
Lotus root stuffed with bacon and mushrooms : yuck
Crab dumplings floating in some sort of oily brackish rockpool juice : yuckiest
Braised turtle, shell, legs, head and all! But chopped up. (Face eaten by Ned) : yum
Crispy duck with head (beak eaten by Max) : yuck
Liver on a skewer : yuck
Raw oyster : yum
Fugu fish - one bite can kill you but a delicacy in Japan : yum

Hm, now let me see, you live on an island renowned for it’s fabulous food and you now eat prawns and oysters. I love prawns and oysters.

Get the guest room ready, I’m on my way!
