Dilemma
I was planning on taking my laptop with me to China next week, mainly so I could download my digital photos onto it as we travelled… but I had an epiphany last night and realised I really don’t want to lug it around everywhere! I have a 40GB MP3 player / hard drive thingy but I don’t think there’s any way to get photos onto it without a computer.
So, advice required please!
Should I:
a) take computer for mega photo storage, but be forced to lug it around and worry about it getting nicked;
b) not take computer and restrict photos to 90 or so - impossible I fear
c) buy a really big memory card, spend lots of money, perhaps still run out of room
d) take an SLR and spend lots of money on film
e) take 40GB portable HD and copy photos across to it in cybercafe
Or is there another solution I haven’t thought of? Please help!

Well having recently travelled with a digicam myself, i can tell you that:
b) is not an option!
d) is just as nuts… in fact worse, coz you are more restricted in what u take pics of.
c) is workable, but not ideal, as u will still run out I fear.
a) if you can be bothered
e) if it’s possible.
I have seen various portable HD and connector type thingies to mp3 players etc… so if a) is a pain, then go for e) in some fashion at least… if you get me.
Good luck, and make sure u choose an option that will allow you the most relaxed pic taking freedom… the worst times when in NZ was when I couldn’t take pics due to battery or mem card limitations.
