Thanks to Joel for alerting me to a very cool internet event happening now, to raise money for albatross preservation and research. Apparently albatrosses are very endangered due to getting entangled in long fishing lines.

Anyway, they are holding an albatross race on this year’s migration from Tasmania to South Africa. You can go and bet on your chosen albatross, and then track their progress on an interactive map. Every albatross has an notable ‘owner’ and they come from three different islands.
