Friday Five

// March 26th, 2004 // Internets

If you…

1. …owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
Traditional English fare… roasts and creamed potato – lots of carbs – yum! Either that or a nice Atkins restaurant, as I for one am missing ordering anything I like from a menu – and here in Sydney there are very few low carb options… omg! What have I become?!?

2. …owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
Definitely books – perhaps even a specialist science fiction or gay bookstore… with a small DVD section of course!

3. …wrote a book, what genre would it be?
Lesbian fantasy – fantasy as in Lord of the Rings, not as in Angelina Jolie! There is a real shortage of good lesbian fantasy out there – though I do recommend Lorimal’s Chalice by Jane Fletcher…

4. …ran a school, what would you teach?
Hmm, this is a tricky one. In a perfect world, ju-jitsu!

5. …recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
I’ve always seen myself as a bit of a white Missy Elliot – whaddya think?

Friday Five

// March 19th, 2004 // Life

Just discovered a new concept – the Friday Five – sounds like fun and more importantly, gives you something to blog about! So let’s see how I go…

1. What was the last song you heard?
Right now I am listening to Lyle Lovett’s new album – a track called “Cute As A Bug”. I have never been into Lyle Lovett but always meant to have a listen as one of my idols, Lucy Lawless, is OBSESSED with him apparently! Myself, I have always preferred the company of female country singers.

2. What were the last two movies you saw?
Geez, this is not going to change much from Friday to Friday… Never get to the movies much anymore. Let’s see – Series 7 and Get Ready To Be Boyzvoiced – two of my all time favourites that I made Ned & Dins watch.

3. What were the last three things you purchased?
In reverse order, a Ventolin inhaler (fairly common asthmatic purchase), two Express Post envelopes (for work) and a double pushchair! Yay! It’s amazing that nowadays I buy no Coke, chocolate or creamed potato (the three C’s) – thank you Dr Atkins! ;-)

4. What four things do you need to do this weekend?
Tidy up my side of the bed (ew!), go to the museum with Ned, catch up on all the episodes of the Bill I am behind on, and generally sort through some more crap – Jan & I are trying to shed stuff, gonna have a garage sale!

5. Who are the last five people you talked to?
Again in reverse order – Jan, Archie, Harry (predictable), Ned, Dins – all predictable! Grrr.

    just speaking of movies, we are amidst the annual llgff (that’s London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, to you) and are only managing to see one as we are off to so many gigs and things round then… it is a manga thingie called ‘Revolutionary Girl Utena’. i am hopeless at making links but here’s the site if you wanna see the movies: http://www.llgff.com
    and re: predictability – i wouldn’t worry. sometimes i only talk to Gregory (age 17 months) all day! [the last film we saw was 21 Grams tho - totally ACE! Benicio Del T is our hero. and i'm even coming around to Naomi Watts (sheesh, after Mulholland Drive...] phew!

    “Boysvoiced” That’s that funny mockumentary you showed me ages ago?

    Have now watched “Show me Love” (discovered first that there was a default parental lock on my chinese DVD player – that was less amusing than it should have been). Can’t get “But I’m a Cheerleader” to work though. Perhaps it doesn’t appeal to the chinese?

  3. What were the last three things you purchased?This question is interesting! Yes, it is true I cannot leave my Atkins product too. So it is also one of them!
