Fair Day 2004

We all headed off to Mardi Gras Fair Day yesterday afternoon. It was absolutely packed, much bigger than I have ever seen it before. Tons of people and stalls, and much to Jan’s excitement the rides were back. Thank god it was a relatively mild day compared to the heatwave we have been enduring of late. Basically we wandered around, bumped into friends, then Jan took Ant off for a ride while I took Arch & Hal to the Kidzone. Archie had to wait for the drag queens to finish with the swings but eventually got a go. Ant and Jan came back, Ant a little green around the gills.

Fair Day FunWe bought some socks, and then headed off to our car which promptly… failed to start. O joy we said. Nothing like waiting around for the NRMA with two kiddies in the back. Archie was getting quite grumpy - you could see him thinking “Just start the car and go, you idiot parents!” Anyway the NRMA were very prompt, but it did take a while to work out the issue - a dodgy fuel pump. Peter the friendly road service man gave the offending part a thump and lo and behold we started. Have to get the fuel pump replaced though.

So all in all a memorable day at the fair. Archie had a disturbed night last night though - woke up four times - with the result that I feel rather exhausted and like I am coming down with something. At least he then had the decency to sleep in until 8:30am!
